Sports Marketing
Sponsorship and partnership in sport, with the activation budget planned alongside the rights fee rather than after it.
Aperçu
The most common mistake in sponsorship is spending the whole budget on the rights. A logo on a shirt or a board is close to a donation: it produces impressions, most of them unnoticed, and nothing anyone can act on. The rule of thumb worth following is that activation should cost at least as much as the rights.
The second mistake is choosing the property by prestige rather than by fit. A smaller property whose audience genuinely overlaps yours, with rights that allow real activation, outperforms a famous one where you are the fourth-tier partner with no access to anything.
À qui cela s'adresse
- Companies with sponsorship spend and no activation behind it
- Brands considering a first sports partnership
- Businesses renewing a sponsorship nobody has evaluated
Notre approche de Sports Marketing
Les travaux précis que couvre une mission type. Le périmètre est convenu d'avance : rien ici ne réapparaîtra plus tard comme une ligne surprise.
Property evaluation
Audience overlap, rights actually included, and what activation the contract permits. The rights schedule matters more than the badge.
Negotiation support
Securing the rights that make activation possible: access, content, hospitality and digital, rather than signage alone.
Activation planning
What you do with the partnership, budgeted alongside the fee rather than found afterwards.
Athlete and team partnerships
Individual relationships with the contract and conduct terms that a public partnership requires.
Content production
Access-based content, which is usually the most valuable right in the package and the least used.
Evaluation
Brand and commercial measurement against objectives set at signing, so renewal is a decision rather than a habit.
Du premier échange au résultat mesuré
Toujours la même séquence, pour que vous sachiez ce qui vient ensuite.
Define the objective
What the sponsorship is for: awareness, association, hospitality or access. Each implies different properties and rights.
Evaluate and negotiate
Assess properties on fit and rights, then negotiate for what activation actually needs.
Activate
Run the campaign, content and hospitality that turn the rights into something people notice.
Evaluate and decide
Measure against the original objective and make an evidence-based renewal decision.
Des résultats, pas des livrables
Un empilement de documents n'est pas un progrès. Voici les changements que le travail doit produire.
Sponsorship that does something
Funded activation is the difference between a partnership and a donation.
Better rights for the same fee
Negotiating for access and content rather than signage changes what the deal is worth.
Association that transfers
Genuine audience overlap is what moves brand perception, and prestige without overlap does not.
Renewals decided on evidence
Measurement against stated objectives ends the sponsorship that continues because it always has.
Questions fréquentes sur Sports Marketing
Ce qu'on nous demande avant de nous contacter. Si votre question n'y est pas, posez-la nous directement.
How much should we budget for activation?
At least as much again as the rights fee, and more for a large property. Sponsorships that spend everything on rights consistently underperform smaller deals with proper activation behind them.
Does a bigger property mean better results?
Not usually. Being a minor partner of a famous property means expensive rights, crowded visibility and little access. A smaller property where you are the primary partner and the audience genuinely overlaps is normally far better value.
How do you measure sponsorship?
Against the objective set at signing. Awareness needs brand tracking; association needs perception measurement; commercial objectives need attributable activity. Media value equivalent of logo exposure is not a measure and we do not report it.
What about the risk of an athlete partnership?
Real, and manageable through conduct clauses, exit terms and a plan agreed in advance. The risk is worth taking when the individual genuinely fits; it is not worth taking for reach alone.
