Video Production
Longer-form video made properly: brand films, customer stories, product explainers and event coverage, planned so one shoot produces months of material.
Overview
Video is expensive when it is treated as one deliverable. A day of filming that produces a single three minute film has spent the same money as a day that produces the film plus a dozen cuts for social, stills for the website and clips for sales.
Planning for that from the start costs almost nothing extra and changes the economics entirely. The other thing that changes them is scripting: most of what makes a video good or bad is decided before anyone arrives with a camera.
Who this is for
- Companies needing a flagship film for the site or a launch
- Businesses with customers willing to be filmed and no footage of them
- Teams paying for shoots that produce one asset each
How we approach video production
The specific pieces of work a typical engagement covers. Scope is agreed up front — nothing here is a surprise line item later.
Concept and scripting
The structure and the words agreed before the shoot. This is where a video is actually made; the camera just records the decision.
Customer story production
Interview-led films with real customers, which consistently outperform brand films because a stranger saying it is more credible than you saying it.
Product and explainer video
Showing how something works clearly enough that a viewer could describe it afterwards, which is a higher bar than it sounds.
Multi-output planning
Every shoot planned to yield the main film plus vertical cuts, stills and clips, rather than a single edit.
Production and direction
Crew, direction and the practicalities. Interview subjects who are not professional performers need a director who can put them at ease.
Post-production
Editing, colour, sound, subtitles and versions per platform. Subtitles are not an afterthought, given most first viewings are silent.
From first call to measured result
The same sequence every time, so you always know what happens next.
Scope
What the video is for, who watches it and where. That determines length and format more than taste does.
Script
Written and approved before scheduling, including the questions for any interviews.
Shoot
Filming planned to capture everything the whole output set will need, not just the main film.
Edit and deliver
Main edit plus the derivative cuts, subtitled and correctly sized per destination.
Outcomes, not deliverables
A pile of artefacts isn't progress. These are the changes the work is meant to produce — and what we report against.
More assets per shoot day
Multi-output planning routinely triples what a production day yields for a marginal increase in cost.
Credibility from customers
A customer saying it on camera carries weight no brand film can manufacture.
Fewer expensive surprises
Scripting first means the disagreements happen on paper rather than on a shoot day with a crew standing by.
Footage you can reuse
Properly organised source material stays useful for years rather than sitting on a drive.
Common questions about Video Production
The things people ask before they get in touch. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
How much does a video cost?
It varies enormously with crew size, locations and shoot days. A single-location interview film is a fraction of a multi-location brand film. We scope against what the video is for rather than starting from a package, and the multi-output planning changes the value more than the budget does.
How long should our video be?
As long as it stays interesting and no longer. Customer stories work at two to three minutes, explainers at sixty to ninety seconds, brand films rarely beyond two. Watch-through data on your existing video is a better guide than any rule.
Will our people be comfortable on camera?
Most are not initially, which is normal and manageable. Interview-led formats, a small crew and time spent before rolling make far more difference than coaching does.
How is this different from short-form video?
Different craft. This is scripted, crewed production for films that need to hold attention for minutes. Short-form video is a high-volume, fast-turnaround discipline for social feeds. Many clients want both, and the shoot days can serve each other.
