Marketing Strategy Development
A marketing strategy that names the audience, the message and the channels, and says what you are not doing. Costed, sequenced and tied to a number.
Overview
Most marketing strategies are a list of activities with a budget attached. That is a plan, not a strategy. A strategy is a decision about who you are for, what you will say to them, and which opportunities you are deliberately walking past.
We work out where demand actually comes from in your market, which of those routes you can realistically win, and what it costs to find out. You end up with a document your finance director can read and your marketing team can start on Monday.
Who this is for
- Companies spending on marketing without a clear view of what is working
- Teams that have grown by referral and now need a repeatable channel
- Founders about to hire their first marketing lead and wanting the plan first
How we approach marketing strategy development
The specific pieces of work a typical engagement covers. Scope is agreed up front — nothing here is a surprise line item later.
Audience and segment definition
Who buys, who influences the purchase, and what triggers them to start looking. Based on customer interviews and your own sales data, not personas invented in a workshop.
Positioning and message
What you say, in what order, and why a buyer should care. Tested against how your competitors describe the same thing, so you are not saying it too.
Channel selection
Which routes to market are worth funding at your size and margin. Some channels only work above a spend threshold, and we will tell you when you are below it.
Budget and sequencing
What to fund first, what waits, and what the first phase costs. Sequenced so early results inform the next decision rather than everything starting at once.
Measurement plan
The two or three numbers that tell you it is working, defined before launch so nobody argues about the definition afterwards.
The stop list
The activities to end. Usually the most valuable page in the document, and the one that pays for the engagement.
From first call to measured result
The same sequence every time, so you always know what happens next.
Evidence
Two weeks with your sales data, your analytics, your CRM and a handful of customer conversations. We look for where revenue actually comes from today.
Options
Three routes you could take, with the cost, the time to signal and the risk of each. Not one recommendation presented as inevitable.
Decision
A working session where you choose. We argue for a view but the call is yours, and the reasoning gets written down alongside it.
Plan
The chosen route turned into a sequenced, costed plan with owners and a first ninety days that somebody can actually start.
Outcomes, not deliverables
A pile of artefacts isn't progress. These are the changes the work is meant to produce — and what we report against.
A plan you can fund
Costed and phased, so a board can approve the first stage without committing to all of it.
Fewer channels, done properly
Concentrated spend beats thin spend across six platforms. Most teams are spread far too thin.
An argument that survives contact
Because the reasoning is written down, the strategy does not quietly reverse the first time someone senior has a different idea.
Something to measure against
Targets agreed up front, so in six months there is a real answer to whether it worked.
Common questions about Marketing Strategy Development
The things people ask before they get in touch. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
How long does marketing strategy development take?
Six to eight weeks for most companies. Faster is possible but usually means skipping the customer conversations, which is the part that makes the strategy specific to you rather than generic.
Do you also run the marketing afterwards?
We can, and often the same person who wrote the plan stays on to deliver it. We are equally happy handing over to your team or to another agency, and the plan is written to be handed over.
What if we already have a strategy?
Then a shorter review may be all you need. We will read what you have, test it against your data, and tell you whether it needs replacing or just sequencing properly.
What do we actually receive?
A written strategy, a costed ninety day plan, the measurement definitions, and the customer research behind it. Everything in a form your team can edit, not a locked deck.
